Chloe Emery, DVM
Dr. Chloe Emery is the lead veterinarian at two veterinary practices in the Jackson area. She brings a world of experience and caring to her practice. Originally from Jackson, Dr. Emery received her undergraduate degree and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University. Since her graduation in 2018, she practiced at and eventually purchased Lakeland Animal Clinic — and then Northeast Animal Hospital.
Dr. Emery and her husband Gray have one son, and an award-winning English Bulldog named Vito. She is an accomplished equestrienne and has won numerous ribbons in competitions. During her free time, she enjoys cooking, tennis, pickleball, fishing and riding horses at her grandparents’ farm in Vaughan, MS.
Katy Grace Abbott, DVM
Dr. Katy Grace Abbott grew up in Fondren and started her college career at Belhaven University, where she played collegiate volleyball for two years. But animals were always on her radar. “While I love all species of animals, I have a passion for feline medicine and am known as a crazy cat lady!”
Dr. Katy received her undergraduate degree in pre-vet/biology at Mississippi State University, and went on to the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2024.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs, playing with my cats, working out and playing volleyball.
Courtney Brown, DVM
Dr. Courtney Brown has been a part of the Lakeland family since 2018 in a part-time capacity. She is originally from Yazoo City, where she was a graduate of Manchester Academy. She attained her Bachelor of Science in Animal and Dairy Science in 2011, then pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2015.
Dr. Brown has more than 11 years of experience in general veterinary practice and four years in emergency medicine. Her expertise extends past the usual dog and cat and includes unusual “pocket pets.” Her professional interests include preventive medicine, client education, geriatric care, and strengthening the human-animal bond.
Dr. Brown believes veterinary medicine is about caring for both the pet and the people who love them, and she is passionate about helping owners make informed decisions throughout every stage of their pet’s life. She strives to provide, “quality medicine with a hometown feel.”
Wherever Dr. Courtney is, you can be sure her three and half pound little shadow, a yorkie named Stella, isn’t too far away. Together with her cats, Finn and Milo, they keep life entertaining at home. When not at the clinic, she enjoys cheering on the Mississippi State Bulldogs, traveling (especially to the beach), and spending time with her friends and family.
Savannah Lewis
General Manager
Savannah is the person everyone needs around — organized, energetic and always ready to help. She grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and started my career in “human” medicine.
“This is where my love for helping people stems, but I always had a desire to work with animals. I joined the Lakeland family in January 2022 as a receptionist and now oversee operations for both Lakeland and our sister practice, Northeast Animal Hospital.
“I love that I get to combine my passion for helping people all while loving on our pet patients and ensuring things run smoothly so they receive the best care we can give.”
When not at the clinic, she enjoys gardening, baking, crafts, and loving on her own fur babies! She and her husband have two children.
Ashley Spivey
Manager/Lead Veterinary Technician
Ashley’s love of animals led her to her career and to Lakeland Animal Clinic. The Jackson native taught pre-school for 16 years, then “I decided to pursue my passion for animals.” She graduated from the Hinds Community College Veterinary Technician program in 2016 and her path has been set ever since. “I couldn’t be happier taking care of your fur babies!”
Her own fur babies include three dogs and two cats. And she had three children and five grandchildren.
Marissa Jenkins
Veterinary Technician
Marissa is a Certified Veterinary Technician at Lakeland Animal Clinic who joined the team a year ago. She has eight years of experience working in veterinary medicine.
“I am a 2019 graduate of the Veterinary Technology program at Hinds Community College. I have a cat named Joy and she is my baby. I have always loved taking care of animals and I am grateful to be trusted with your fur babies’ care.”
Christopher Gay
Veterinary Assistant
There is nothing that Christopher doesn’t love about his job as a Vet Tech Assistant. “I love animals, nature, and wildlife. I love taking care of all the different cats and dogs that come see us! I love being able to make connections with them, and I take great pride in my work.”
Brian Flanner
Veterinary Assistant
Brian is a Marine Corps Veteran who turned his sights to career in training dogs in 2019. “When not at the clinic, I love to work with dogs in basic and advanced obedience training, as well as in service/therapy work.” His training specialty for service/therapy work allows dogs help with PTSD, mobility and autism.
Christopher has “two spoiled dogs,” as well as several salt and fresh-water fish tanks. He is currently working toward an accredited degree as a veterinary technician through Penn Foster. “I look forward to what this career brings my way,” he said.
Bella Vazquez
Kennel Technician
Bella hails from Florence and has always had dogs and cats. “I love animals. I’ve been working directly with animals for three years and hope to continue for a long time! I love helping our clients feel comfortable and secure with leaving their loved ones in my care.”
Brandi Atkinson
Brandi is a certified Mississippian. “I’ve lived my entire life in Mississippi and have been in the veterinary field since I was 17 years old!” When not at the clinic, she loves trips to the beach and hanging out with her husband, Jared, and daughter, Lexi. “I also have two fur babies, Gronk and Wayne,” she said.
Liz Camacho
Liz Comacho spent most of her childhood “obsessed with animals, and I knew early on I wanted I wanted a career in the field.” However, knowing she was a bit too squeamish to be a veterinarian, Liz found her calling as a groomer. “I enjoy being able to build trust with my animals, especially those needing some extra TLC,” she said. Originally from Florida, Liz has a ton of pets, most of them rescues, but her main sidekick is a little Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) named Delilah. “She is pint sized with a huge personality!” When she has any spare time, Liz enjoys painting and creative projects, plus being outside in nature with her animals. “I’ve spent my 14-year-plus career learning special handling and grooming methods that focus on building a relationship with my fur-clients,” she said. “Grooming can be an overwhelming process for animals — we ask a lot of them. My goal is to make it as relaxing and comfortable as possible, giving them the time, patience and attention they deserve.”
In her free time, Liz enjoys painting and creative hobbies. “I love being outside in nature, especially with my animals and love spending time with my family,” she said.
Miki Day
Miki Day began her grooming journey as an apprentice to our own expert groomer Liz Comacho here at Lakeland Animal Clinic and after eight years, she is back to beautify pets of all sizes — from the tiniest pups to our biggest furry friends. Henry
I am by far the most valuable staff member at Lakeland Animal Clinic. I am on the clock 24/7 so I can supervise everything. I spend the majority of my work day greeting clients, offering support to my feline friends undergoing vaccinations and surgical procedures, inspecting carriers for safety and coziness, and taking inventory in our food closet. In my free time, I enjoy sunbathing, rolling in catnip, and forcing the other staff to feed me treats. The strenuous nature of my job can cause me to have attitude problems sometimes, so please be careful approaching me, especially if you’re not bringing me a well-deserved treat.
